OMG…as a teacher, this is HILARIOUS!! Dude, that should be the premise of a fic, where the Storybrooke District staff sit down and rewrite their emergency protocol handbook; they could discuss what to do when Giants, Ambiguously sided pirates, and people with magic rampage about town. XD
A thief had broken into the castle tonight. By the time Rumpelstiltskin caught him he was only a few feet away from his daughter’s room, and the thought of her being hurt by a little bug like this man had terrified him.
He didn’t expect to react as violently as he did. He didn’t expect his punishment to be so …messy. But most of all, he’d never meant to hear that scream come from his daughter’s lips.
When he first held her in her arms he’d promised to protect her from the monsters of the world. But what could he do when the monster was himself?

“I want my mama,” Synnove whispered against Drake’s neck. She was cold and scared; for the first time in her life she was all alone in the dark and couldn’t call for her papa to hold her.
Her papa was scary. Her papa had shouted and his teeth looked like the Jaberwalk that Mr. Jeffy told her about.
He looked like a monster, and Synnove was afraid to open the door. She rocked back and forth in the corner of her room. it was her safe place, papa had promised. No one could come in, not even him, not unless she opened the door.
She couldn’t open the door.
“I want my mama,” she whispered again. Papa said that mama was gone too far away to ever come home, but papa also said that scary things couldn’t get her while she slept, and she’d woken to screaming. ”Please, I need to find her.”
This is SO HEARTBREAKING!!! :( But as the song goes, “It hurts so good!” I love this series soooooo much…if only Synnove had magic like Rumple and could use her emotions to accidentally magically teleport to where Regina is keeping Belle (I still really, really hope Belle is alive in Regina’s tower like in Canon). Annnnddd instant happy ending. Le sigh.

Thing that troubles me is the “They sound like a cute couple IF ONE WAS A GIRL” as well as the “You need help” part.
What the fuck, teacher? Why would this girl need help?
Because she wrote about a gay couple? Because gay couples are wrong and with some help she could get rid of all homophile tendencies?
Or because she wrote about sex? Because girls aren’t supposed to write/talk/think about sex?WHAT THE FUCK?
As long as her grammar is decent and she writes good characterization and description and such, she is perfectly fine. And due to the grade, I think, she really is PERFECTLY FINE!
As and English teacher, I agree; it was very inappropriate of your teacher to comment on the choices and genders of the characters. If the writing assignment met the guidelines of the rubric is her focus; if anything, the smut is what would be the issue and addressed by either a parent-teacher conference or at least as a warning so you knew not to feature smut/keep it PG-13. If I were you, I think I would bring a copy of this paper/the original to an administrator (Principal, Vice Principal, Guidance Counselor, etc.) because this is an issue of the teacher imposing their personal preferences on you. You deign a gay couple to be a normal occurrence in literature, and why not? It is not her place to hint that “this is not normal.” In fact, in the majority of schools, a teacher imposing their beliefs on religion, sexuality, etc. is considered taboo/against school policy, since their role calls for a neutral party on such “controversial” issues.
Like many others, I will be saddened to see you leave, and yet I can completely understand your logic. :( Hazing is unacceptable and I hope that douchebag sees all the posts supporting you, and realizes how petty and heartless their actions were. Arabesque and The Art of Losing were two of my favorite fics; I will be saddened to see them gone!!
